Privacy Policy

BimmerDrift ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the BimmerDrift iOS app and the BimmerDrift website handle information.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to:

• the BimmerDrift iOS application; and
• the BimmerDrift website, including the pages where this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use are posted.

2. What the App Does

BimmerDrift is an iPhone application designed to work with supported BMW vehicles and supported adapters. The app connects to a supported vehicle through a local adapter connection and can read certain vehicle information and, when authorized by the user, send commands related to supported vehicle functions.

3. Information We Process

Based on the current functionality of the app, the app may process the following categories of information:

A. Vehicle and connection information

• Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
• gateway IP address
• diagnostic address
• adapter or gateway MAC address
• vehicle series information
• certain diagnostic read values and status values
• session and diagnostic log information generated during app use

B. Purchase and entitlement information

• App Store purchase and subscription entitlement status
• product identifiers for in-app purchases and subscriptions
• a locally stored app account token used for StoreKit purchase flows
• a locally stored flag indicating cached lifetime unlock status

C. App preferences and locally stored state

• selected adapter mode
• last stored vehicle snapshot
• certain recent app status and diagnostic state used to improve reconnect behavior and app flow

4. How Information Is Used

We use the information described above to:

• connect the app to a supported vehicle and supported adapter
• display vehicle information and app status to the user
• determine whether a user has an active subscription or lifetime unlock
• restore purchases and validate entitlements through Apple's in-app purchase systems
• store local app state needed for reconnects, diagnostics, and user experience
• generate debug or diagnostic reports when such functionality is available in the app build

5. Local Device Storage

Based on the current app code, certain information is stored locally on the user's device, including:

• adapter selection
• cached lifetime unlock status
• locally generated app account token for StoreKit
• persisted vehicle snapshot, which may include VIN, gateway IP, diagnostic address, MAC address, vehicle series, latest status value, and update time

This locally stored information is used to support app functionality and user experience.

6. Data Sharing

Based on the current app functionality, we do not identify any custom remote backend that receives vehicle or diagnostic data from the app.

However:

• Apple may process purchase, subscription, and restore information through StoreKit and App Store systems.
• The app communicates with a supported adapter and/or vehicle gateway over local network connections in order to function.

We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or where necessary to protect rights, safety, or the operation of the app.

7. Purchases and Apple

In-app purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple, not by us directly. We do not receive or store your full payment card information in the app code reviewed here. Apple may process transaction and subscription information according to Apple's own terms and privacy policies.

8. Website Links

The app may include links to external pages, including the BimmerDrift Privacy Policy and Terms of Use pages. If you leave the app or website and visit third-party pages or services, their own terms and privacy policies apply.

9. Data Retention

Local app data remains on the device unless:

• the user clears stored vehicle or app data through app functionality, where available;
• the user removes the app; or
• the operating system removes stored data.

Purchase and transaction records may also be retained by Apple under Apple's policies.

10. Security

We use the app's current local storage and Apple platform services to support app functionality. No method of storage, transmission, or electronic processing is guaranteed to be completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Children

BimmerDrift is not directed to children under 13, and we do not intend to collect information from children under 13 through the app.

12. Your Choices

You may:

• choose whether to connect the app to a vehicle
• choose whether to purchase a subscription or lifetime unlock
• restore purchases through Apple
• clear stored vehicle data if that function is available in the app
• uninstall the app to remove app data stored locally on the device, subject to Apple and iOS behavior

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a revised "Last Updated" date.
